Roseville Arts Center announced Friday that "Creative Compassion," the Hospice Mask Exhibition, brought in an estimated 500 visitors and raised almost $5,000 for local hospice programs and services. The exhibit of 52 masks by local and bay area artists and celebrities closed December 19th after a month-long exhibit in the Arts Center?s new 405 Gallery on Vernon Street in Roseville.
This worthy fundraising exhibit came to the community through the collaboration of Sutter Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) and Hospice Foundation and the Roseville Arts Center, which contributed the venue and gallery expertise for the exhibit.
But it was the generosity and talent of individuals, who applied their unique creativity and compassion to the masks, that really made the show. Local contributors included Kings player Doug Christie, Roseville City Councilwoman Gina Garbolino, Roseville Mayor Claudia Gamar, artists Diane Ruhkala Bell, Barbara Dolder, Eve Dorf, Jim Fitzpatrick, Jack Galliano, Elma Jella, Mya Louw, Carol Newland, Geneva Parker, Vern Peasenell, Gayle Rappaport-Weiland, Kathy Ring, Pat D. Scott, Merridee Smith, Judi Stickney and Alex Sweeney.
Funds raised from the mask sales will benefit Sutter VNA and Hospice, enabling patients to recover, or live with illness, in the comfort of their own homes surrounded by their loved ones.
