* Autumn Art Studios Tour
-------------------------
Over 70 artists from Roseville to Lincoln to Auburn to Colfax and all points in between will be opening their homes and studios to touring art lovers. For many artists, the Autumn Art Studios Tour is one of the biggest and best events on the calendar. This is the largest ever rendition of the annual tour, and promises to be great fun for all.

The tour is self-guided, and runs this Saturday and Sunday, November 9 & 10, from 10am to 5pm. You can purchase a map for a $5.00 donation to the Arts Council, then spend the weekend cruising the suburbs, small towns and rural roads of the region, visiting with artists, touring their studios and adding to your collection of original works of art.

The full list of participating artists is available at the Autumn Art Studios Tour web page, including examples of several artists' work.

For Charter Cable subscribers in Auburn, Auburn Community Television Channel 20 will be airing a new episode of Katy Fries' "Local Color" with guest artists Hellen Phillips and Jennifer Johnson this weekend. All three women will have their studios open for the tour. Show times are Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at both 6:30 and 9:00 each night. Katy's shows are always fun, and she reports that this one is no exception.

One good starting point for the tour is the 405 Gallery in Roseville, at 405 Vernon Street, next to the old Tower Theater. At the 405 is an exhibition of works by most of the artists on the tour, so this can provide a good sampling of must-see locations.

Another good place to begin is at The Arts Building, at 808 Lincoln Way in downtown Auburn. Seven artists with studios at The Arts Building are on the tour exhibiting. Additionally, the Arts Council has displayed numerous beautiful large posters created for last year's Salute to the Arts event at the Roseville Galleria, featuring artists participating in this year's tour.

Maps are available at both of these locations, and also at:

Finn Hall, 4090 Rocklin Road, Rocklin
Lincoln Arts, 540 F St., Lincoln
Nicholson Blown glass, 5555 Bell Road, Auburn
Helen Philiips Studio, 3870 Leak Lane, Loomis
Sandy Delehanty Studio, 8041 Boulder Creek Road, Rocklin
Diane Wood Studio, 14155 Carriage Oak Lane, Auburn

On Saturday Only, you can also get maps at:
Midtown Framing, Sacramento
University Art, Sacramento
Enchanted Florist, Granite Bay
Children's Creative Art Center, Granite Bay

A few corrections to the map: Artist #14 in Granite Bay is unfortunately not able to participate in the tour. There are two #43's on the map. The one in Rocklin was accidently left on the map and can be ignored. The real #43 is Lincoln Arts, which is, surprisingly, in Lincoln. Finally, there are two #74's on the map. The one in Granite Bay should be #73, Joe Strickland. The one in Auburn is correctly labeled for Keith Sutter's photography studio.

As of Friday morning, the weather report called for rain on Saturday and showers on Sunday. It should be a blustery, wet and beautiful fall weekend - the trees are beautiful and the air is clean. You can check the latest weather report here:

Even if the weather is a bit on the wet side, the tour will be worth a drive in the rain. Be careful of slick roads, however, as this is the first rain in nearly 6 months and the roads are rather oily.
